Force Factor Switches to 100% Post Consumer Recycled Plastic Packaging

Apr 22, 2025

Boston, April 18, 2025 – Force Factor® is proud to announce a major sustainability milestone: the start of a complete transition to 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic for all of its bottles and caps. This bold initiative reinforces the company’s mission to help people, the environment and all other stakeholders Unleash their Potential.

Post Consumer Recycled Plastic is an environment-friendly packaging option that is made from recycled plastics that would otherwise end up in landfills. According to the U.S. Plastics Pact, the use of PCR plastic reduces energy consumption by 79% and GHG emissions by 67%.

By transitioning to 100% PCR plastic packaging, Force Factor is making a significant environmental impact across multiple fronts:

  • Reducing waste and preserving natural resources

  • Diverting plastic from landfills and oceans, supporting a circular economy

  • Significantly lowering energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions

Over the last two years, Force Factor has proactively taken steps to offset and reduce its unavoidable carbon emissions. Force Factor’s recent transition to 100% PCR plastic packaging helps to avoid 1,888 tons of CO₂ emissions, which is similar to the combined equivalent of:

  • Taking 117 passenger vehicles off the road for a year

  • Preventing 1,018,624 miles driven by cars annually

  • Saving 50,636 gallons of gasoline from being burned

  • Planting 4,961 tree seedlings and letting them grow for a decade

  • Capturing CO₂ equivalent to 239 acres of forest per year

“Our mission at Force Factor is to help all our stakeholders Unleash their Potential and that includes our consumers as well as our planet and the environment,” said Daniel Wallace, CEO of Force Factor. “With every bottle and cap now made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic, we’re taking a major step forward to reduce waste and carbon emissions, and will continue looking for ways to become a more sustainable and environmentally responsible company.”

Furthering their commitment to sustainability, Force Factor has also maintained its CarbonNeutral® Company certification in accordance with The CarbonNeutral Protocol, a leading global framework for carbon neutrality. Force Factor has expanded its investment in a carefully chosen portfolio of global carbon offsetting projects, including:

  • Jurua Amazon Rainforest REDD+ (Brazil): Preventing deforestation and promoting sustainable land use in the Amazon.

  • Ecofiltro Clean Water & Cooking (Guatemala): Providing water filters and fuel-efficient stoves to reduce indoor air pollution and deforestation.

  • Boone Appalachian IFM (USA): Protecting nearly 17,000 hectares of forest in Kentucky from industrial logging.

  • Circle Smart Gas Meters (Kenya): Providing innovative smart meters with Pay-as-You-Go (PAYG) plans which are making gas cookers more accessible and reducing household air pollution.

These projects not only offset carbon emissions but also support community development, biodiversity conservation, and improved health outcomes globally. Through its transition to 100% PCR packaging and carbon offsetting efforts, Force Factor is taking bold steps to reduce its environmental footprint. These initiatives mark the company’s ongoing commitment to developing as a more environmentally responsible leader in the health and wellness industry, as well as improving the health of both people and planet.
